Microsoft announced it was buying Acompli, a startup that makes email apps for iOS and Android (but not Windows Phone), on Monday, demonstrating a touch of pragmatism in attempts to make inroads on mobile.
In a blog post announcing the move, Rajesh Jha, corporate VP of Outlook and Office 365, said the purchase is “part of a company-wide effort to help people accomplish more with their mobile devices.” Microsoft migrated its Office suite of products to iOS and Android this year.
