In a sea of booths, tethered smartphones and developers at this week’s Game Developers Conferences (GDC) in San Francisco, virtual reality had another “moment.”
Virtually everywhere you looked, VR reared its headSony showed off an updated version of its headset, Project Morpheus, due out the first half of next year. Smartphone maker HTC trotted out a headset called Vive for a holiday 2015 release
Meanwhile, Oculus demoed the latest Rift prototype called Crescent Bay. Less than 10 yards away from the company’s massive makeshift lounge in the Exhibition Hall, players tried out a device on Back to Dinosaur Island, which sent them sprinting, leaping, crouching and otherwise yelping around a Jurassic Park-esque scene while a T-Rex hunted them through Cretaceous period flora. …
