Pinterest now lets you pin and download Apple apps

Apple is pinning some of its hopes to Pinterest to improve app discovery.

Pinterest, the popular social bookmarking service, introduced a new feature that lets users share and discover apps for iPhone and iPad on Thursday

With the option, called App Pins, users can tap an "install" button, which lets them download the application to an iOS device without being taken to a page outside of Pinterest

Uber adds ‘SOS button’ to app in India after woman’s alleged rape

Uber has added an 'SOS button' for users in India

The news comes just two months after Uber came under intense scrutiny following the alleged rape of a woman by a New Delhi driver.

If pressed, the button will pull up a prompt to call local authorities. When the user confirms the action, the button automatically contacts police. The feature is available with an app update

There is also an option to quickly send a status update to emergency contacts. This replaces the "Share my ETA" update and allows users to immediately contact five people they know (users select those contacts). Facebook on Wednesday launched a new platform called ThreatExchange for security professionals to exchange information about cyberthreats with greater ease.

Doing what it does best, Facebook has created a platform — or a mini-social network, if you will — but this time for cybersecurity specialists. The concept is that researchers and professionals can learn from each other, and help keep everyone's systems safer.

That's the premise of Lovebook, a new matchmaking service that aims to help singles find dates by buying targeted Facebook ads.

Lovebook was created by self-proclaimed matchmaker, CJ James, who says he was inspired to create the service after watching a friend's struggles with using conventional dating websites and wondered if there was a different approach

Google will now highlight health-related information for related search queries, the company announced Tuesday

The data, which is part of Google's Knowledge Graph, will include symptoms and treatments for various medical conditions. Users will also be able to learn how critical or contagious a condition is or the ages a certain condition typically affects. In some cases, results will also include illustrations from licensed medical illustrators
