Intel CEO Brian Krzanich plucked a button off his sport jacket and held it up during his CES 2015 keynote Tuesday night. It was not actually a button, but instead the successor to the postage stamp-sized Intel Edison Chip unveiled at last year's CES.

Called Curie, the tiny computer has processing power, Bluetooth LE and sensors and is designed for future wearables. It should arrive in the second quarter of this year. Dell revealed at CES on Tuesday that its UltraSharp 34 monitor, which the company previewed back in August, will be up for purchase on Dell.com starting Thursday in the U.S. For a pretty price of $1,199.99, that is.

The 34-inch screen has a 21:9 aspect ratio, the "ideal size for a curved monitor," according to Dell — and the exact same size of LG's. More companies (including Samsung and Sony) have jumped onto the curved monitor race, too.

The Dell monitor has 3440x1440 resolution and comes with all the normal bells and whistles one expects from monitors: HDMI ports, 9-watt speakers and "virtually borderless cockpit view across multiple screens thanks to its ultra-thin bezels," which are the physical frames that surround the display. ...

LAS VEGAS — Snowboarding just got nerdier

Japan-based Cerevo has introduced XON Snow-1, a set of sensor-enabled snowboard bindings that track your movements and weight distribution as you ride. (Bindings hold the rider's boots to the board.)

These bindings have sensors that monitor your weight distribution and the extent to which the board flexes while you ride. Each binding is also equipped with LED lights on the heel and toe that light up as you shift your weight.

The XON Snow-1's app also keeps tabs on your riding speed and tracks your GPS location. After you've finished a run, you can use the video overlay feature to create a visualization of your style. The bindings are rechargeable and will last 6 to 8 hours on a single charge ...
