17 spooky scenes acted and animated on Vine

Last week, just in time for Halloween, we started a Vine challenge themed around spookiness

Ghost effects, realistic crime scenes, creatures lurking behind bedroom doors and spine-chilling hallway thrillers — these were the types of videos we saw under the #SpookyHallow hashtag

If you're not into scary stuff, don't scroll down any further. These six-second horror clips are hard to shake off.

Vine artist Jennifer Messmore, a Las Vegas native, guest-hosted our challenge

"I really enjoyed seeing a few Viners who aren't necessarily known as spooky show their versatility," Messmore said. Jawbone UP3 is a sleeker, smaller, smarter fitness tracker

Jawbone is introducing two new fitness activity trackers, including its next-generation UP3 wristband wearable that will one day know when you're dehydrated, stressed and fatigued.

Sleek in design and significantly smaller than its previous UP24 model — check out the picture above for the difference in size — the UP3 ($179) comes with advanced activity features that can differentiate exercises, such as swimming, running and tennis, to better gauge calories. It also includes sleep tracking, which can signify REM, light and deep sleep

Unlike many newer fitness tracker models, Jawbone decided not to incorporate a display or smartwatch-like notification features that are popping up on competitors such as the Fitbit Charge HR and the Microsoft Band. We're on the cusp of the most magical time of year; but beyond tidings of comfort and joy, the holiday season is also appropriately deemed the "Season of Stuff."

Most of us already have too much junk cluttering our homes, offices and desks — it can be overwhelming. It's easy to see how this stuff accumulates: We are constantly inundated with messages to buy, subscribe, sample and "Click Here!" Over time the accumulation of swag and such can get out of control. Cleaning house, however, can take a much-needed load off your mind during this stress-inducing holiday season.

HP offers a video preview of its smartwatch

When Hewlett-Packard (HP) and the Gilt Groupe unveiled their MB Chronowing smartwatch last week, all we had to gauge the functionality of the device were photos. Now the companies have offered a video that shows the device in action

Posted to Gilt's Vimeo account on Monday, the video (see below) is hosted by fashion designer Michael Bastian, who worked with HP to create what the group considers a more fashion-friendly device than rival smartwatch offerings.

Google Calendar app tracks events, flights, dinner reservations in real time

On the heels of Google's new Inbox app, the company rolled out on Monday a brand new Google Calendar app that cuts down on how much you have to manually enter event details.

The app — which is available today for devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop and will be downloadable for Android 4.1+ devices in the coming weeks — keeps tabs on the things you book. This means whenever you reserve flight, order concert tickets or a make a dinner or hotel reservations, the Calendar app will update with that information
